Spiritual Happenings were birthed to honor the similarities between the cultural art Happening movement of the late 1950s – 1960s and what has unfolded within the Unified Spiritual field today. The Art Happening movement peacefully challenged and confronted conventional viewpoints and was so influential it changed how art was created, engaged with, and valued. Happenings operated with the fundamental belief that art could be brought into the realm of everyday life. Cultural Art Happenings involved more than the past detached observation of the viewer; they required the viewer to participate in each piece actively. This new element, combined with Happenings having no consistent or defined style, created an evolving event where every time a work was performed or exhibited, it would never be the same as the previous time, nor would each participant have the same experience. They were unique live-action cultural events that combined all types of media while sharing a desire to highlight the natural connection of art and life, just as the Golden Age Spiritual embodiment movement does today.
